Learning english

Learning english at university has been a goal not to easy for me. At school I haven’t good teachers especially in latest years. Besides English wasn’t a priority for me those years ago. I regret of that. English has become to be the principal international language. So, every english subject has been a hard work for me but a very positive experience to learn more and more. When we work in blogs, I can see the big knowledge difference between me and my mates but I think I have progressed a lot despite the difficulties. Mainly I have to improve my verbs knowledge, in present, past and to talk in live to other persons and tourists. This coming vacation will be an excellent opportunity to practice without the academic pression. Outside the English class I’m  using English to understand better my favorite series and movies in Netflix,  even if they are subtitled. I like to understand more every day, so, not to have to read too much and enjoy the original sound of them. For...

Being Student

Respect to subjects, I believe that the most significant was “Taller experimental”. This workshop is led by professor Francisco Brugnoli. “Taller” is the more important subject of my career and take up a great portion of academic time and energy. I love it because in this art workshop we work with specific methodology, that drive us to observe, to describe and to analyse the student’s projects collectively. It was an enriching experience for me. In this subject we were working in differents arts forms and materials resources of each student, some work in performance, other work with video installation, some working in textile art, others in picture. It was challenging for me to combine two subjects for a single project, so I made a “Bestiario” it’s about the little beats of organic forms, what seem to be body organs, fungal colonies, or microscopics bugs, made of textile and pottery. This project I analysed into “taller experimental” but I made into pottery workshop. In other moment...

next summer holidays

Two years ago my couple and me went to south of Perú, we knew Arequipa and Colca Canyon. In addition we travelled to peruvian side of Titicaca lake and its islands. It was a wonderful trip! That is why we want to know Lima, Cuzco and its surroundings this summer. We already got the tickets ;) In Lima we are thinking to tour the historic centre where are great examples of colonial architecture. I would like to visit  the museums Oro del Peru and Larco . Larco houses an enormous and beauty collection of Pre-Columbian art. As well we will go to the nearby beaches. After Lima we will travel to Cuzco. I expect to have the money for a ticket plane, because the trip Lima - Cuzco delays 20 hours!!! I really hate to travel for many hours in a bus. Along time ago I already have been in Cuzco and Machu Picchu. These places are beautiful and amazing, so I will feel happy for to visit them again. Furthermore I wish to tour el Valle sagrado de los Incas , it’s composed of rivers, ...

My vegetable garden

Imagen
My hobby is to grow my vegetable garden. It all began when my father made a vegetable garden in his home, but did not get good results (he lives in the country 60 km. from the city centre). I began to grow with him and to study different vegetables. After some time we install the drip irrigation system. This significantly improved the project. It's four years since, now, I go every other week planning what vegetables we will plant, making seedlings and studing how make a organic and healthy vegetable garden. Sometimes I can’t go there and the vegetable garden suffers. The greatest threat are the slugs, they are really devourer,  but I can’t kill them. Last summer I learned about “mulching”, a mulch is a layer of organic materials such a leaves or branches applied to the surface of soil. Mulching  improves fertility, health, keep the humedity and protects from the frosts and weeds, then  it’s no longer necessary that I spend long days weeding. I enjoy and relax...

To study and to learn always

Imagen
When I began this university degree I thought I would study all my life, now  I don’t think to study postgraduate course in the future, because I’m exhausted. I´m finishing the second university degree, then in the future I would like to study informally. I love to learn, but in the future I’ll study slower pace, compatible with my job and home life. I believe I I’ll study some pottery techniques: potter's wheel or work on porcelain, like a advanced training course, because my current project art is a mix between textile and pottery. There are a lot of great ceramist here, in Santiago, maybe in the future I’ll travel to Japan or U.K. because this countries are world leaders in that area.  The next year I’ll be working on my thesis, also I would like to go to 11th International Shibori Symposium. I would present a piece of my work and I would attend a few workshops about Shibori or similar topics. I think a great idea to study from a book, I have a bible of Shibori...

My future job as textile designer

Imagen
Years ago I studied industrial design, but I don’t like it  and I never work on design area. Now I study Art -my speciality is textile art- and I have reconciled with my facet as designer. In the near future I will work as freelance textile designer, for some time I work freelance from home. I will design a textile product line, like a scarves, bags, notebooks, pencil case, meditation cushion. My work will be as green as possible, so these accessories will made with natural fabrics and coloured with natural dyes. In the coming months I will learn how to use natural dyes, for example onion skin, walnut shell, iron oxide or tea, this will be outdoor work. wallnut shell dye After that, I will do some material testing and several prototypes, to decide what kind of fabric and size will be the best for every design. And the final colour that will be applied. The issue of color is essential and challenging to me, because to obtain the wished colour is difficult, in particular...

A interesting character in a science fiction series

Imagen
I will speak about  one character from one of my favorite series: The Expanse. This series  it is about science fiction, it is set in the XXIII century when the human being has colonize planet Mars and the asteroid belt, there are discontent and war threat. For me the best character is a peculiar character, her name is Chrisjen Avasarala. She is a powerful mature woman, she’s  perfidious and she dresses elegantly. I don’t know how old is she, but she’s a grandmother. This woman lives in the Earth, home of the privileged and government under the UN. She’s a senior official of the UN, from that position she has a great influence a global nivel. But she’s not freely elected, she belongs to a politician ancient family, dating back to the early days of planetary exploration and colonization.  Avasarala claims avoid the war between the Earth and planet Mars. To achieve this objective she uses any manner or trickery possible. In the first chapter, she tortu...

Jazz and Milonga

Imagen
Jazz and Milonga are my beauty female cats. In a few months they will be 11 years old. I adopted them in a pet store, Milonga was abandoned with her brother inside a garbage can. Instead Jazz was left in the pet store by a teenager, who recibed the kitten from her sister. They were very little and scare when they arrived home, looking for refuge on me all the time. They have different personalities, Jazz suffers from anxiety, she is fat and feel fear of unknown people, but she is a little more independent than Milonga. Everyday I have breakfast with Milonga laying on my lap, she really enjoys it. She loves being caressed a lot, and she looks for it many times a day. Like typical adult cats, they sleep most part of the day, but they wake up very early in the morning. During the weekend I don’t like that, they demand me for breakfast or just love, if I don’t do that, Jazz licks my nose, instead Milonga throw the things on my bedside table. They are part of my family, we understan...

Imagen
My best holidays were last summer, I went with my couple to Bolivia for second time. We were a lot of days in Rurrenabaque, a tropical little village, very nice for me, because is in front of a river little, quiet and we ate delicious food, every day we took the breakfast french bakery and tropical fruits juice, also I ate a lot of yuca, I love it. We walked leisurely for a long time every day, enjoying the good weather and admiring the landscape. Also we went to nature reserve, it was amazing! we saw very different types of animals: Capibaras, caiman, beautiful birds, turtles, monkeys and too much mosquito, during the nights the bats flew inside the room (we slept under a mosquito net), but the first night we were afraid. We returned to La Paz in a small plane, it was exciting, the flight was shorte but with turbulence. From La Paz we went to Tiawanaku, I don’t enjoy very much, because I feel dizziness and altitud...

Japan, I want to see you

Imagen
I would like to travel to Japan for many reasons, the first reason is to observe and to learn the textile technique called Shibori or Tie and Dye, is to reserve some areas of the fabric to prevent it for being dyed with knots, moorings, folds, rolled, pucker or with stitching. I' m interested because in this country are still being mainly for stitching, for make kimonos and others pieces. Other textile reason is to visit the Amuse Museum , that contains a great collection of Boro , literally translated as rags or scraps of cloths , used to describe clothes have been patched-up and repair many times. Its origin date back to the 17 th - early 19 th century, Boro is the clothing that was worn by farmers. Today represent a way of life, the beauty in the imperfect. Personally, I'm drawn to Boro because I'm interested in the concept of repair in every respect. Also the Japanese literature is my favorite, I love the novel The snow country written by...
